Sorrow

"Sorrow" is the final track from Pink Floyd's 1987 album, A Momentary Lapse of Reasonalthough it was the seventh song from the album performed in the Momentary Lapse set of the 1987/88/89/90 tours. It was written and composed by guitarist David Gilmour. Gilmour has stated that although lyrics are not his strong point, the song is one of his strongest lyrical efforts, even though the opening lines were appropriated from John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.[1] (from wikipedia)

"The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land,
plumes of smoke rise, merge into the leaded sky,
a man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers,
he waits for the morning, with no reason for waking.

He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise,
his youthful dream, he can't be precise,
he's chained forever to a world thats departed,
its not enough, its not enough.

His blood is frozen and curdled with fright,
his knees have trembled, given way in the night,
his hand is weakened by the moment of truth,
his step has faltered.

One world, one soul,
time past, when were wrong,

Its not enough, its not enough

He talks to the river, lost love and dedication,
a silent reply, swirl invitation,
flow dark and troubled to an oily sea,
...
...

Theres an unceasing wind that blows through this night,
theres dust in my eyes that blinds my sight,
theres a silence that speaks so much louder than words,
of promises broken."

If you haven't guessed yet, music is a big part of my life. Just wanted to share this one with you, if you don't know the song, give it a listen. From the guitar intro to the the rising and falling crescendo's throughout, you will not be disappointed, well, as long as you appreciate good guitar work.
